Residency at Mottaket – Ålesund

During her residency at Mottaket, Silvia Ilona Sørhagen continues her ongoing painting series based on the element of water, presenting a selection of works and developing new drypoint prints within the same series. The residency also marks the beginning of her next project in the series – the element of air – where she explores how movement can influence visual expression.

Part of the residency includes a collaboration with Tonje Aas Molnes, who works with dance in harness and tissue. Through their dialogue between painting and performance, they seek inspiration for new works and the possible development of a joint piece. Together, they explore how the natural elements can serve as a visual language for human experience, with body and movement forming a shared point of connection between their practices.
